What's the secret to 75 years of marriage? Emily and Jack Mascola of Toms River answer that question.

The couple tied the knot May 9th, 1943, as Jack enjoyed “a couple of days off” from the Army in the middle of World War II. That knot remains tied some 14 presidents, seven popes and three generations later. There are two children, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Emily and Jack Mascola are 97 and 99 years old, and they still hold hands. They live on their own, too. Jack explains that finding common ground was their ultimate secret to a successful marriage: “What I tried to do, when my brain was working, was to find areas we had in agreement, and usually the pointed issues get lost by the wayside.”
